She wasn’t looking for love…
When Lucie Kennington flees the bright lights of London for the quiet Derbyshire countryside, she’s shocked to discover that the heir to the Bluebell Castle estate is far from the wizened employer she expected.
In fact, Arthur Ludworth might just be the most handsome man Lucie’s ever laid eyes on – and a terrible distraction! So when she stumbles across a legendary painting feared lost for centuries, she can’t believe her luck – perhaps this is the hidden treasure to save Arthur and his family from ruin?
But it’s only a matter of time before Lucie’s past catches up with her and by then it’s too late, she’s falling for him…
Perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley, Rachael Lucas and Hilary Boyd.
Book 1: Spring Skies Over Bluebell Castle
Book 2: Sunshine Over Bluebell Castle
Book 3: Starlight Over Bluebell Castle
This book breezes by. From the start, I was invested, both in the characters and in prose that feels comfortable while not being predictable. I found both protagonists relatable, entertaining, and believable. There's a near-perfect balance of description with dialogue and every sentence seems to sing by in a lovely pace that was neither rushed nor belabored.
There are a few moments of cliché but nothing that disrupted my enjoyment. Okay, I rolled my eyes at Arthur being THE MOST HANDSOME UNKNOWN MAN IN THE UNIVERSE but it's a romance novel. Of course, he's breathtakingly perfect - but he's not, and I found I loved him most when he wasn't being perfect.
That's probably the biggest strength of the novel - the clichés have just enough play that they become endearing rather than annoying. I sometimes shy away from romance because it's too predictable but this was such a fun read. I read it fast and furious, happy to be in the story and a little sad when the last page pushed me back out.
