I’m so thrilled to announce the design by Amanda Walker. Her artistic presentation perfectly encapsulates the emotions of the novel - the hope, wistfulness, challenge and triumph of a missionary seeking to serve God and reconcile imperfect humanity to a divine message.
Each day as I wrote Hermana, I rehearsed the missionary charge in Doctrine and Covenants chapter 4:
Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;
For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;
And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.
Hermana addresses missionary work from a human perspective rather than a place of idealism. The cover, filled with a harvest field of wheat but a figure still clothed in the fashions of the world, speaks to the challenge of faith we all face as we seek to find and follow the will of God.
Hermana is available for preorder on Amazon. Grab your copy at this special price. I’d love to share these words with you.
