Review: 5 Days, 5 Kissed

What could be more awkward than getting dumped at graduation....kissing five strangers to get over it! Nikola Jensen hates endings, like when her parents told her they were splitting up, or when she was forced to leave her first love and idyllic lake home to move to the barren desert of Arizona. So, two years later when her high school boyfriend Sam, publicly breaks her heart, Nikola can’t seem to let go. To help her move on Nikola’s best friends, Liberty and Maya create the absurd Five Days, Five Kisses plan. All she has to do is kiss a new guy every day for five days and Sam will be a distant memory. Five Days, kissing five strangers. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a delightful tale of first love and broken hearts.

Nikolai is experiencing her first broken heart. She loses her boyfriend at graduation and then her best friend’s mother suggests a tried and true remedy: kiss five boys in five days. Nikola isn’t completely sold on the idea, but her friends leap into action. Soon, she’s kissing boys with every turnaround.

But while her misery over her boyfriend faded”a, nothing erases the memory of the boy who got away - her first love that slipped away after her family moved to Arizona.

This story may have moments of cliche (and it’s WAY easy for Nikola to find teen boys to kiss - no awkwardness for these dudes or gals), but it’s filled with great characters and witty dialogue. I enjoyed the easy narrative. There’s enough depth to keep the pages turning even if it’s light enough to read while watching tv. I don’t have any specific quarrel with the story or writing - it’s an excellent piece of genre fiction that will thrill its audience.
